DRAKESBORO – Jerry Wayne Reed, 77, of Drakesboro, died Friday, April 11, 2025 at 1:00AM at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. Mr. Reed was born in Muhlenberg County on February 13, 1948. He was a member of Wesley Chapel AME Zion Church in Greenville, and retired from Peabody Coal. He loved watching Wrestling, especially Monday Night Raw with Stone Cold Steve Austin, and he also enjoyed watching Cowboy movies. He had a weakness for sweets, craving cakes, and candy. Most of all, he cherished his family, and the love of his life, his wife of 54 years, Carolyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel Cartwright and George Reed; and sister, Carla Taylor.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Jones Reed; son, Jeremy (Sherry) Reed; daughter, Kellee Reed; sister, Regina Reed; granddaughter, Kaetlyn Moore; sisters-in-law, Virginia Paige, Lydia Davis, Rebecca (Roger) Frazier, and Teresa (Leonard) Foster; brothers-in-law, Michael Johnson and John Taylor; nieces and nephews; and great-niece and great-nephew.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at 12PM at Wesley Chapel AME Zion Church in Greenville with Rev. Ba Tavi Combs officiating. Burial in West End Cemetery.
