GREENVILLE – Jerry Wayne Grundy, 78, of Greenville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at his residence. Jerry was born in Bremen in Muhlenberg County on November 5, 1946. He served his country for 20 years in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam War veteran. He also worked at TVA for 15 years. Mr. Grundy was a faithful member of Carter Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He was married to the love of his life Frances Charlene “Charlie” Grundy for 42 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Louise Grundy; wife, Charlie Grundy; son, Scott Grundy; and brother, Curtis Grundy.
Survivors include his son, Chuck (Dawn) Grundy of Carrollton, Georgia and daughter, Jeri Anna Pitts of Athens, Alabama. Grandchildren, Ryan, Andrew, Seth, and Evan Galyen, Alex Grundy, Emily, and Will Harrison, and Lynze Pitts; sisters, Jo Ann (Walt) Russ, Doris (Clay) Cessna; brother, Carroll Grundy, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 1PM at Carter Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville with Bro. John “Butch” Day officiating the service. A military burial will follow at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 10AM-1PM at Carter Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
