Jaymes “Jay” Carroll Norris

February 14, 1959 - January 9, 2024

CENTRAL CITY – Jaymes Carroll “Jay” Norris, 64, of Central City, died Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 5:50PM at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville. Mr. Norris was born February 14, 1959, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to Mary Ann Dow Norris and Robert Earvin Norris. He attended Bach Elementary School in Ann Arbor. He and his family moved to Central City in 1973 and he attended Central City High School. After living for a brief time in California, he returned home and married Ruth Ann Rogier on July 29, 1978. They were blessed with 45 years together. Jay retired from G.E. Aircraft engines, where he was a proud member and steward for IEU-CWA Local 701. He had previously worked for Central Products, Inc. and Green River Gas. He had a brilliant mechanical mind and could fix anything. He loved motorcycles, rock music, traveling, his pet cats, and spending time with his family. His favorite project was building a race car with his son, who was also his best friend. He was a mentor to many young people through the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Robert Patrick Norris and Michael Dow Norris.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ruth Ann Norris; and his son, Jaymes Robert “Bobby” Norris.

Ruth, I’m so very sorry for yours and Bobbie’s loss. Jay was a great guy and friend. Growing up with you and Jay as neighbors was a blessing for me. I love y’all so very much. Stay strong. Let me know if you need anything.

Sorry for your loss. Prayers for you and your family. When I saw jays obituary it triggered a memory that I know he told you about the time he threw the rubber spider towards me and he had no ideal that I was so petrified of spiders until this happened.

We thought the world of Jay and are so sorry to learn of his passing. Prayers of peace to Ruth and Bobby and all of his loved ones.
