GREENVILLE – Jane Watkins passed peacefully in her home on Sunday April 23, 2023. Born in Brownie, KY December 13th, 1944, she was a special mother, grandmother, and friend.  She was a member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist in Drakesboro, KY.  She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Donald “Spanky” Garrett Jr., her husband Don B. Watkins, her parents Jim and Opal Perry, her sister June Ingram and her brothers Lucky Perry, Shelby Gene Perry, and James Donnie Perry.

She is survived by her daughter Dr. Kristy (David) Chappell of Greenville, KY, her grandchildren Chandler Wells, Garrett Wells, Ty Chappell, Presley Garrett, Cooper Garrett, Chloe Goins, and Alex Sorrels, her sister Jean Greenwood of Greenville, KY, her brother Ricky Perry of Sikeston, MO, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Being a grandmother was the joy of her life.  She loved being “Mamaw” and anyone who met her got to hear about her grandchildren.

Jane was an insurance agent for American General for many years.  She absolutely loved visiting with her clients and getting to know them.  She cared deeply about them all.  Before that, she had worked for the Leader News and for a local radio station.  These jobs gave her the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends, which were her favorite things to do besides being a Mamaw.

Jane graduated from Muhlenberg Central High School in 1965. She loved her church family and had an unshakeable faith in the Lord.  She will be laid to rest in Rose Hill cemetery.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 11:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Bro. Scott Casebier officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00-8:00PM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.

Jane was like a mother to me, since Kristy (her daughter) and I grew up together and continue to be best friends. I remember going to Kristy's house and talking with Jane almost as much as I talked with Kristy. She always made me feel so loved. She grew up knowing my mom, Jo Ann, who I lost when I was seven years old, and my grandmother (Nannie), who was always called "Prissy" by her friends and family. Although I lost my mother and Nannie early in life, God has always surrounded me with loved ones, which included Kristy and Jane, to walk alongside me through this difficult life. I will always love Jane for loving me. Rest in peace, beautiful Jane.

She was my best friend ever, from the 6th through 12th grade . So many great memories! We had so much fun in my dad’s green wagon. We did skip school every now and then and went to Mable’s hamburger place next to the school. We would hide behind the counter when we saw the Principal go by in his car! Such great fun we had!!
