Jane G. Ewing CENTRAL CITY — Jane G. Ewing, 73, of Newburgh, Ind., formerly of Central City, died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. at her home in Indiana, surrounded by the people she loved. Mom was a loving daughter, sister and wife, mother and grandmother. Her strength, courage and tenderness blessed all who knew her and she will be greatly missed. She was born July 26, 1936, in Central City to Elza Gray and Geneva Gray. She graduated from Central City High School and then attended Carraway Methodist School of Nursing in Birmingham, Ala. After receiving her registered nursing degree she went back home to Muhlenberg County to nurse. She specialized in OBGYN and hospice nursing. After Dad retired, Mom and Dad moved to Bonita Springs, Fla., for some fun in the sun. Mom’s greatest joy came from her family. She was so proud of her two daughters, four grandchildren and two sons-in-law, and it’s their love she valued most in life. When Dad passed away in 2005, she knew her life in their dream home in Florida would never feel the same. She had lost her best friend and soulmate. She returned to be near family. She also found new family in Indiana, her best buddy, cohort-in-crime Cheryl Williams. They called themselves Thelma and Louise. My mom cherished their friendship and knew it was a gift from God. Cheryl is now a member of our family and Mom knew we would now need her as she did. Her family will miss her greatly. We love you, Mom, and this is not good-bye, it’s see you later when we are called home. You and Dad now can roll around heaven all day. Love you so much and thank you for the journey. The family would like to thank Linda Nunning of Visiting Nurse Plus Inc. She was the best nurse and we could not have asked for any better, and also Dr. C. Thomas Watts for his care and understanding. She is survived by her daughters, Allyson Green and Sally Clymer; her sons-in-law, Bob Green and Jim Clymer; and her four beautiful grandchildren, Elyse Lucchese, Mitch Green, Amanda Green and Blair Green. She has one brother, Tommy Gray.
