GREENVILLE – James Rondal Propes, Jr., 66, of Greenville, died Thursday, October 2, 2014. Mr. Propes was born August 21, 1948, in Louisville. He was retired from Reynolds Metal and Alcoa Aluminum, and was a member of Second Baptist Church. He was a member of Pond River Masonic Lodge, Madeline Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, York Rite, and was a Kentucky Colonel. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Nancy Kerr Propes of Greenville; son Donald Propes of Louisville; daughter Megan (Brian) Chaney of Greenville; grandchild Lillian Chaney of Greenville; mother Helen Propes of Greenville; and brother Thomas R. Propes of Martin, TN. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at 9:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. Curtis McGehee officiating. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at 2:00PM at Louisvllle Memorial Gardens Chapel on Dixie Highway, with Don Fleming officiating. Burial in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Louisville. Masonic services will be held on Monday at 7:00PM at Tucker Funeral Home. Greenville James Rondal Propes Sr. 1926-2012 He was born on March 23, 1926 in Marrowbone, Cumberland County, KY., the son of Gertie Breeding and William Propes. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Helen Poynter Propes, and two sons, James Rondal Jr. (Nancy) of Greenville, KY and Thomas Russell (Cindi) of Mooresville, NC. He had four grandchildren, Troy R. Propes (Lee), Travis R. Propes (Chrysti Carol) both of Daniel Island, SC., Megan Chaney (Brian) of Greenville, and Donald R. Propes of Louisville. Two step granddaughters Lee Carol Dowdy and Andrea Crawford of Martin, TN. He had eight great grandchildren, Addison, Karlee, and Regan Propes, Andrew and Ryan Propes, Lillian Chaney, and Hensley and Audrey Dowdy. He is preceded in death by his brother Ivan P. Propes. James was a member of Second Baptist Church in Greenville, KY. He retired from Naval Ordinance in Louisville in 1986, and served in the U.S. Navy WWII aboard USS Pasig (AW3). He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of KY, Valley # 511 for over 50 years, and Madeline Chapter # 64 Order of the Eastern Star also a 50 year member. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 16, 2012 at 6:00 PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Dr. Ray England officiating and Bro. Carlton Bell assisting. Visitation will be after 4:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Louisville Memorial Gardens cemetery on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 with visitation from 1:00PM-2:00PM Eastern time at the cemetery.
