LOUISVILLE – James M. Quisenberry, 90, sadly passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023, after multiple complications from hip replacement surgery. Jim was born to Harold and Norma McManaway Quisenberry on Nov. 30, 1932 in Lincoln, Illinois. He grew up on a farm in Atlanta, Illinois and was a proud 1950 Atlanta Redwing graduate. He served 2 years in the US Army. Afterwards he enrolled at Southern Illinois University. Jim lived and breathed all sports and decided to go to Umpire School in Nebraska. He spent time then in the Florida League.
Later in life he and Hilda became avid Louisville Cardinals fans and supporters for many years. He also enjoyed going back to Illinois for his family and class reunions.
He was preceded in death by his parents and only brother, Duane Quisenberry.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Hilda Jones Quisenberry. He also leaves a sister-in-law, Joyce Quisenberry; two nieces, Diane and Sarah (Glenn); two nephews, Brian and Jeff; and numerous cousins. He was also “Uncle Jim” to all of Hilda’s nieces and nephews. He had a host of friends from all over and of course his Louisville Cardinals family.
Private Graveside service will be Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 1:00PM at Woodland Cemetery in Greenville with Bro. Scott Milby officiating. Burial to follow.
