James Allen Kellen, 93, died Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville. Mr. Kellen was born September 21, 1917 in Caseyville, Kentucky. He was a graduate of Morganfield, Kentucky High School in 1935. He was employed with Strickland Distribution Company, Dealer Tire and Supply, M. Manas & Company, Michelson Jewelry, and Paducah McCracken County Senior Citizens. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. From 1935 – 1941, he was a member of Civilian Conservations Corps, and was a Junior Officer in charge of the camp. From 1941 – 1945, he served in the US Navy, serving in the Southwest Pacific including Darwin, Australia. He was discharged from Fleet Post Office at San Francisco. From 1950 – 1952, he served the US Navy in the Korean War, serving on aircraft carrier U.S.S. Boxer (CV21). Mr. Kellen was a member of the National Honor Society, Masonic Lodge #577, National Association of Civilian Conservation Corps, Veterans of Foreign War Posts #1441, Paducah, KY, American Legion Post 31, Adult Leader Cub Scout Pack #200 and Boy Scout Troop #200, Lone Oak, Kentucky, and the Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Kellen, and three brothers. Survivors include his son, Mike Kellen of Phoenix, Arizona, two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 1:00PM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Paducah, KY. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday at 12:00noon at Woodlawn Cemetery.
