James was not only my dad, he was my BEST FRIEND. We talked everyday. He was my Mentor. I tried my best to mold myself and life around him. I will always keep my promise to him. I have memories to last a lifetime time. Our trips to the mountains were very special to my wife , Mom, me and his 4 Brothers and wives. I now have a special guardian angel looking over me. Waving at LARRY will never be the same. God Bless, love you DAD!

Our vacations to the mountains will never be forgotten. He loved the mountains and loved that Mom and him started going there with his (4) Brothers, there wives and Bobbi and Me. I will always keep my promise to you. Waving at LARRY will never be the same. Love you and God bless!

Juanita "J.J." (Dennis) Gaines left a message on December 21, 2016:
Uncle DD & I had a special relationship. He was always such fun to be around, he loved "Trish" & his sons, grandkids, brothers & all of his family. Thankfully this included me. He listened when I ranted in my "Hurricane" fashion, loved to hear me sing, made my world better just because he was in it. It's rude to some to name a favorite, but James was mine. I loved him when we did see eye to eye & even when we didn't see eye to eye, & I'm a better person because of that last "good" day, talking to him. I miss you already! I will remind Daddy that he was always a wonderful Big Brother to you, just like you asked. I will take care of Daddy as best as I can. I'm so happy that I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that I WILL see you again. Right now, in this moment, My heart is hurting. Thank you for loving me as much as I have always loved you!
