SACRAMENTO – Rev. James Robert “Mudcat” Burden, 64, of Sacramento, began walking on the streets of gold on Thursday, January 17, 2019. Mudcat was born on June 30, 1954, to the late Linis and Louise Burden. Mudcat married the love of his life, Patty, on June 6, 1973, and together they raised three sons. He was a log buyer and truck driver. Mudcat was an anointed youth minister who warmed the hearts of everyone he met. He was at his happiest when he and Patty were working with youth groups in different churches that God led them to. Mudcat also loved and cherished the memories he made with family and friends. Mudcat will join his parents; three brothers, Eddie Burden, Richard Burden, and William Earl Burden; one sister, Mary Lacefield; his granddaughter, Rebekah Burden; and another granddaughter and a great-grandchild who were stillborn. Cherishing his memory is his wife, Patty; sons and their wives, Bobby (Tonia) Cline of Island, Jamie Cline of Calhoun, and Mike (Shelly) Burden of Sacramento; his grandchildren, Kelcie (Jeffrey) Calhoun of Island, Robbie Cline of Island, Gil Cline of Owensboro, Colby Cline of Island, AJ Cline of Calhoun, Garret and Kamden Burden of Sacramento, and Brodie Cline of Calhoun; great-grandchildren Josh, Austin, and Braelynn; his puppy, Kizzy; brothers Billy Burden of Rumsey, Ronnie (Kitty) Burden of Bremen, and Joe (Gwen) Burden of Owensboro; sisters Anna (Donnie) Piper of Cleaton and Robin Smith of Hopkinsville; and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be Monday, January 21, 2019, at 11:00AM at Church Street General Baptist Church, with Rev. Danny Greene, Rev. Phil Greene, Bro. Nate Baize, and Rev. Robert Pierce officiating. Burial in Station Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-8PM at the church and Monday after 9:00AM at the church.
