Ila Gertie Hunt

Ila Gertie Hunt 12/26/2008 CENTRAL CITY — Ila Gertie Hunt, 104, died at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, at Belle Meade in Greenville. She was born Jan. 5, 1904, in Muhlenberg County, the daughter of the late Daniel Marion and Dora Sumner Hunt. She taught at Hunts, Hope, Prouse and Cherry Hill schools and retired from Central City Elementary School as a special-education teacher. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Central City. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Verlie Hunt, Eula Gardner, Ara Porte and Idelle Beadnell; three brothers, Azro E. Hunt, Edgar Hunt and Kenneth Hunt; and two grandchildren, James D. Hunt Jr. and John Mark Faske. Survivors include two sons, James Daniel Hunt of Dunmor and Dale Gardner Hunt Sr. of Lexington, S.C.; two daughters, Dora Sue Faske of Dunmor and Rita Dawn Cumens of Madisonville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Gene Cathy officiating. Burial will be in New Hebron Cemetery in Dunmor. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
