GREENVILLE – Hilda Rhea Rice, 86, of Greenville, died Monday, July 24, 2017, at her home. Born in Muhlenberg County on September 14, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Roy Jones and Charity F. Richmond Jones. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Lone Star General Baptist Church for more than 50 years before moving to Greenville, and then she became a member of Second Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James A. Wells (1991); her second husband, Bervie J. Rice (2001); a son, Barry E. Wells (1983); three brothers, Theodore, Rollo, and Walton Jones; and five sisters, Nellie Hope, Oca Hill, Virginia Jones, Audrey Ellsworth, and Erlene Melhiser. Survivors include a son, Phillip S. (Linda) Wells of Greenville; six grandchildren, Phil Wells Jr., Brandy Garcia, Anastasia (Matt) Tolbert, Sherry Wells, Ashley (Jeremy) Thompson, and Nicolas Garcia; four great-grandchildren, Christian Wells, Tristen Wells, Jasmin Garcia, and Rilee Thompson; a sister, Betty Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 10:30AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Bro. Bob Thurman officiating. Burial in Lone Star Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8PM at the funeral home.
