BELTON – Gilbert Cortland Stanley, 91, of Belton died on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at 9PM at his residence. Mr. Stanley was born in Belton on April 11, 1935. He belonged to the Church of Christ and was a Coal Miner for Peabody Coal Company. He was a United States Army Veteran. He loved horses, and going coon and squirrel hunting. He enjoyed music and singing. He liked gardening – especially tomato. He loved to go to church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and Mose Stanley; brothers, Woodrow, and J.W.; and sisters, Dorothy, June, Velma Lee, Josephene, and Jackoline.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Stanley; children, Stephen (Debby) Stanley, and Rita (Jerry) Carter; grandchildren, Jared (Sheena), Jodi, and Ileah (Brian); great-grandchildren, Carter (Carlie), Braxton, Owen, Coleston, Adelina, Anne, Liam, Ian, and Lydia.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 6, 2026 at 2PM at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with Mr. Ross Connely officiating. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday after 10AM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
