Madisonville – Gerald Edward Hampton, 73, of Madisonville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Baptist Health Deaconess Hospital in Madisonville. Gerald was born in Muhlenberg County on September 10, 1951, to the late Robert “R.T.” and Gracie Hampton. He was a member of the Eastview Baptist Church in Madisonville, and worked as a coal miner. He was an avid rabbit hunter, and a huge fan of U.K. basketball. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Doug Hampton; and his sister, Dorothy Hampton.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Karen June Peay Hampton of Madisonville; his son, Gerald Edward (Matt Wilson) Hampton Jr. of Louisville; brothers, George Hampton of Central City, Carlos Hampton of Central City; his sisters, Gwen McQuillar of Central City, Maggie Hampton of Central City, Vicki Hampton of Central City, Cathy Hampton of Central City; Brothers-in-law, Tim (Jessica) Peay of Greenville, Brad Peay of Bowling Green; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday April 9 from 1P.M. to 3P.M. at Tucker Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
