GREENVILLE- Gene Sweeney, 90, of Greenville died Friday, October 11, 2019 at Greenville Nursing and Rehab. Mr. Sweeney was born in Todd County on February 23, 1929. He was a supervisor at Harris Steel Mill Factory in Illinois, a Veteran of the United States Armed Forces, and a member of Browder General Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ganow and Rosie Sweeney; brothers, Leslie Sweeney, Julius Sweeney, Collie Sweeney, Thomas Sweeney, John Sweeney; sister, Maudie Boggess. Survivors include his wife, Willadean Mercer Sweeney; sons, Larry Sweeney, Donnie (Sue) Sweeney; grandchildren, Kyle, Kelli, Catherine, Shannon, Donny, Cody; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Brody, Mackenzie, Charley, Jackson; brother, Darrell (Violet) Sweeney. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at 1:00PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Bro. Tom Carroll officiating. Burial will be in Joines Chapel Cemetery in Greenville with military honors. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
