CENTRAL CITY – Gary Don Divine, 81, of Central City, died Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 6:08PM, while at the Heartford House in Owensboro. He was born in Bremen on June 9, 1943. He was stationed in Germany while serving in the U.S. Army. He retired from TVA after 25 years, having worked at Ft. Loudon Dam in Lenoir City, TN, Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in Athens, AL, and Paradise Fossil Plant in Drakesboro. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and Chairman of Deacons for many years. He and his wife served on many foreign and domestic mission trips, through KBC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Rilda Whitmer Divine.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Slaughter Divine; children, Amy Divine Draper of Central City and Jeremy (Megan) Divine of Midway; grandchildren, Alex Draper, Erin (Eli) Lewis, Iris Divine, and Willa Divine; great-grandchild, Minerva Lewis; and sisters, Janet Menser and Deb Divine.
Visitation with friends will be Saturday, June 29, 2024 from 9:00AM – 10:00AM at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 10:00AM at the church, followed by a graveside military ceremony at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will begin around 11:00AM with a meal in the Mt. Pisgah Fellowship Hall. His wish was that all family and friends would gather for a meal and all things Kentucky Wildcat, sharing stories and jokes as that’s what you think of when you thought of him.
