Elaine “Lainey” Hobgood Newcom

March 3, 1955 - May 12, 2024

BREMEN – Elaine “Lainey” Hobgood Newcom, 69, of Bremen, passed away at 11:14am on May 12th, 2024 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro surrounded by her family.

Elaine was born March 3rd, 1955, graduate of Bremen High School 1973.  She was saved at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and was a current member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Elaine was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Hobgood; sister, Sharon Vincent; daughter, Keisha Newcom; mother-in-law, Helen Nelson Newcom; and father-in-law, Charles Newcom.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Donnie Newcom; son, Brandon (Becky) Newcom; grandchildren, Braylen, Brycen and Brooklynn; father, Frank Hobgood; sisters, Vicki (Larry) Latham, Lisa (Ray) Mercer; sisters-in-law, Pam (Mack) Rose, Regina (Allen) Vincent, and Dianne (Robert) Hardrick; plus several nieces and nephews.

Elaine’s greatest joy were her son and grandkids who she truly loved.  She was very proud, loved them with all her heart and valued spending time with them.  Elaine was always a hard worker, who also enjoyed her flowers, cutting off corn on the cob, making tomato juice, and canning anything else she could.  She was a great softball player, a fantastic cook, and a creative artist in many ways. She always liked spending time with her friends, and riding the golf cart with her husband, grandkids, and her little buddy Cooper Phelps.
