CENTRAL CITY – Edward Lee Smith, 83, of Central City, died Monday, January 23, 2017, at 2:25AM at Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation in Greenville. Mr. Smith was born April 9, 1933, in Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 24 years, and retired from TVA. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a past master of the Central City Masonic Lodge, and he remained a member of the lodge. He was a member of the Shriners, American Legion, and VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Nora Smith; brothers William Andy Smith, James Smith, and Perry Smith; and son James “Jim” Byerly. He is survived by his wife, Jane Lee Smith; daughters Sheila Chaney of Powderly, Lynn King of Chattanooga, TN, and Cindy Smith of Chattanooga, TN; son Joe Byerly of Chattanooga, TN; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
