SACRAMENTO – Earl Ray Pointer, 71, of Sacramento, died Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital. Mr. Pointer was born December 17, 1942, in Muhlenberg County. He was a coal miner and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Pointer; parents Lum and Ola Pointer; brothers Harold Pointer and Robert Pointer; sisters Anna O’Bannon and Jean LeGrand; granddaughters Annie Pointer and Makayla Arndell; and great-great-grandson Kayden Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Joanna O’Reilly Pointer; sons Earl Ray (Christy) Pointer, Jr., and Bill (Tammy) Pointer; daughters Shelia Johnson and Teresa (Darrin) Nunley; step-daughters Brennda Rhodes, Dawn House, and Jacklyn (Jeff) Miller; sister Mary (Don) Booth; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 13, 2014, at 12:00 noon at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. Wayne Rice officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
