Central City- Dewey David Griffin, 94, of Central City went home to be with the Lord Sunday, June 19, 2011 at 12:10 AM at Maple Manor Health Care in Greenville, KY. Born in Muhlenberg County on March 24, 1917 to the late Jessie and Ann Piper Griffin. Dewey worked in logging and was a member of Mercer Baptist Church in Powderly. He was saved on May 18, 2006 and was baptized on June 18, 2006. Left behind to cherish his memories are his childern, Dewey Denny (Amy) Griffin, Edna Griffin McGehee, and Mary Griffin Smith; two step sons, William Miller and Doug Miller; grandchildren, Curtis (Missy) McGehee of Greenville, Larry (Kim) McGehee of Greenville, Dale Griffin of Lexington, Mary Jane Smith of Central City, Sherry Smith of Central City, Freddy Smith (Misty) Jr. of Central City, Bill (Christy) Smith of Central City, Nikki Coopwood of Belton, Britney Chumley of Central City; twenty great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers Kelly and George Griffin and Flora Griffin Eaves. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Rev. Curtis McGehee and Rev. James Branscum officiating the services. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery in Cleaton.
