Central City – Darrell Lee Rector Sr., age 75 of Nelson Creek Kentucky died on August 21, 2022 at 8:20am surrounded by his wife and children in the peace and comfort of his own home. He was born on July 15, 1947 in Muhlenberg County. He was a retired Teamster with the local 215 and a retired deputy sheriff of the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s office where he dedicated many years of service. He was an avid collector and restorer of classic cars and enjoyed drag racing most Saturday nights. He had a calm nature that was easy going and enjoyable to be around. He loved history and always had a story to tell. He loved his children and even loved the neighborhood kids, always setting aside extra time to teach us something new. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Volney and Mildred Rector, brothers Joe Rector and Rickey Rector.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Rector; three children, Tammy (William) Goff II of Nelson Creek, Darrell (Vicki) Rector Jr. of Greenville, and Tiffiany (Craig) Miller of Greenville; grandchildren, Eddie Joe (Vanessa) Fulkerson, Coty (Amber) Fulkerson, Darrell Rector Ill, Destiny (Jacob) Miller, Danielle Rector, Hannah (lan) Abshire, Hunter (Kutia) Miller, Evan Miller, Jessica (Drue) Chandler, Megan (Justin) Hayward, and Shelby Whitehead; great-grand-children, Harlye Fulkerson, Kayle Fulkerson, Gavin Fulkerson, Avery Rector, Arlo Peveler, and Blakelyn Rector; brothers Mike Rector, Sherman (Betty) Rector, and sister Altie (Larry) Majors; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Bro. Matt Adams officiating. Burial in Nelson Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be at 10:00 at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
