HANSON – Col. Thomas Ezra McGuyer, Jr., 93, of came into this life on June 30, 1931, in Paradise, Kentucky in Muhlenberg County as the seventh of nine children born to his parents Thomas Ezra McGuyer, Sr. and Bessie Elizabeth Edwards McGuyer who have long since gone on before him. Tommy went on to join his Wife of 67 years, Willadean Jernigan McGuyer, his two brothers William Richard (Jack) McGuyer, and Thurman Willis McGuyer, his sisters Willa Genevieve Hagan, Thelma Louise (City) Hammers, Dorothy Mae Piper, Nettie Sue Todd, Georgetta Faye Phelps, and Hilda Lee McGuyer, and his son Philip Dwayne McGuyer, his grandson Micah Ezra Cox, and two granddaughters Dawn Michelle McGuyer Minard and Elizabeth Grace-Anna Cox.  He leaves behind in this world his two daughters, Melissa Kay Adams and Marjorie Ann Cox, and his son Jeffrey Thomas McGuyer. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren and many, many nieces and nephews and dear friends. He will be greatly missed by all whether you called him Daddy, Pappaw, Uncle Tommy, Tom, or Jr.

He loved Life and lived it fully in service to others, including serving in the Army in Korea from 11/28/1951 to 11/19/1953. He received the Korean Service Medal with 2 bronze service stars, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

He is also a Kentucky Colonel in honor of his service to his country and family, and service to his church as treasurer for many years.

He was a farmer for many years and then retired to Lake Malone. He traveled the United States in an RV, going all the way to Alaska, fulfilling one of his lifelong dreams. He enjoyed watching westerns, UK and U of L Basketball. He loved his farm animals, his tools, and gardening and having his large family gather together for Memorial Day camping, picnics and lots of fun.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 1:30PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Bro. Nick Duvall officiating. Burial in Miller Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8PM and Thursday from 11:30AM until the time of funeral at the funeral home.
