Claudia Ann Burke Sledge 10/28/2008 GREENVILLE — Claudia Ann Burke Sledge, 58, of Greenville died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at Methodist Hospital in Henderson. She was a homemaker and member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Greenville. She was born June 12, 1950, in Browder. Claudia was a poster child for the March of Dimes in 1959. She graduated from Hughes-Kirk High School in 1969 and graduated from Owensboro Business College. She worked at the Muhlenberg County Opportunity Center as an administrative assistant to the director for several years and worked as a supervisor and served as an evaluator for the Owensboro Council for Mentally Challenged Citizens. She was co-founder of the Online Post Polio Syndrome Web site and served on the Governor’s Council for Independent Living. Claudia was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan, as well as a NASCAR fan. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Raymond and Edna Mae Burke; and a sister, Valerie (Peewee) Burke Potts. Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Jeffrey Sledge; a daughter, Melissa Sledge (Shane) Gray; two grandchildren, Blaine and Madison; a sister, Shelby Stobart; a brother, Roland (Vickie) Burke; 16 nieces and nephews; 15 great-nieces and great-nephews; a great-great-nephew; and a great-great-niece. Services are at 11 a.m. today at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery in Browder.
