BEECHMONT – Claude Travis Jr., 83, of Beechmont, died Friday, May 31, 2019, at 10:40AM at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital. Mr. Travis was born April 15, 1936, in Letcher Co. He was a retired coal miner, and was a Greenville Police Officer from 1964 – 1968. He was a member of Beech Creek Methodist Church, and attended Beechmont Baptist Church. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran, and a Mason for 55 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Lula Travis, Sr.; sisters Carol High, Gwen Rodriquez, Helen Mullins, Jackline Mullins, Mildred Bowers, and Margaret Rowe; and brothers Roy Gene Mullins and Walter Travis. He is survived by his wife, Mary Wherry Travis; son Jeff (Beth) Travis of Greenville; grandchildren Quinten Travis and Eli Travis, both of Greenville; brother Bernard “Bear” (Geneva) Travis, of Clarksville, TN; sisters Juanita Cline of Morganfield and Blanche Ferguson of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday, June 3, 2019, at 2:00PM at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home, with Bro. Daxton Lear officiating, assisted by Bro. John Galyen. Burial in Forest Grove Cemetery.
