CENTRAL CITY – Chester Owen Lear, 72, of Central City, died Friday, August 23, 2024, at 8:48AM at the Heritage Place in Owensboro. Mr. Lear was born April 16, 1952, in Muhlenberg County. He was a hard-working man. He was an Air Force veteran, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War right out of high school. He was proud of his coal mining work for Sinclair Underground Coal Mines where he was a superintendent, and he took great pride in keeping up his yard. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Lear; mother, Beatrice Jewell Lear; and brother, Mike Lear.
He is survived by his sons, Jamie (Sonja) Lear of Dunmor and Ralph Jason Lear; daughter, Lindsay (Jeremy) Phelps of Bremen; brothers, Ronnie (Debra) Lear and Charles (Connie) Lear, all of Central City; grandchildren, Emma Rose (Clayton) Underwood, Chandler Phelps, Oliver Phelps, and Cooper Phelps; and several nieces and nephews.
