SACRAMENTO – Carl Glenn Cabbage, 91, of Sacramento, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at Riverside Care and Rehab. in Calhoun. Born on April 3, 1935 in McLean County, Carl lived a long and full life rooted in faith, family, and the land he loved. He worked for Peabody Coal Company for many years and was a lifelong farmer—something that was not just his work, but truly his passion.
Carl was a faithful member of Worthington Chapel United Methodist Church, where his love for the Lord was evident throughout his life. He especially loved spending time with his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him so much joy and were a true blessing in his life.
Carl was blessed with two loving marriages. He shared 57 years with his first wife, Wanda Faye Cabbage, until her passing in August 2011. In 2013, he married Gwen Baldwin, who lovingly cared for him in the years they shared together and will continue to cherish his memory. His children are Jerry Glenn Cabbage (Peggy), Sharon Lynn Miller (Kevin), and James Russell Cabbage (Melonie). He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Tiffany Jernigan (Keith), Cindy Darr (Todd), Adam Miller (Kara), Kari Atcher (Stetson), Kellie Cabbage, Holly Robinson (Josh), Patrick Cabbage (Becca), and Blake Cabbage. His great-grandchildren include Madox, Zane, and Mia Jernigan; Lilly and Hazel Darr; Milo and Charlie Robinson; Avery and Blakely Atcher; Ryleigh and Ramsey Cabbage; and Channing, Braxton, and Charlie Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Les and Ruth Cabbage; his son, Jerry Glenn Cabbage; his brother, Melvin Cabbage; his great-grandson, Samuel Darr; and his wife, Wanda Faye Cabbage.
Carl will be remembered for his hard work, his love of farming, his strong faith, and most of all, the love he had for his family. He leaves behind a legacy that will live on through all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at 1PM at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento with Rev. Michael Strehl and Rev. Gary Whitworth officiating. Burial in Worthington Chapel Cemetery.
