Brenda Sue Slaughter Casebier Brenda Sue Slaughter Casebier of Bremen died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. Brenda was born March 3, 1941, in Grayson County to James B. “Red” and Lillian Gossett Slaughter. Brenda was a very active member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and sang in the Muhlenberg Community Choir. She was a retired elementary school teacher with the Muhlenberg County School System, including Bremen, Longest and Central City for 29 1/2 years. Survivors include her husband, Lane Casebier; sons Tim (Frankie) Ashby of Dunmor, Bill Ashby of Greenville, Monte (Lynette) Casebier of Bell Plain, Minn., Marty (Megan) Casebier of Bowling Green and Mickey (Sabrina) Casebier of Bremen; nine grandchildren; and sisters Betty Thomas, Mary (Gary) Divine and Sarah (Jim) Brown. Services are at 1 p.m. Sunday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Gideons International.

Brenda was a very nice lady. She was my friend. Every time I came to Cedar Grove she would ask me if I was going to sing or if I did sing she would tell me that I did a great job. I am sure going to miss talking to her and working with her in crafts at Bible school. It won't be the same without her there. She was a great person.
