BELTON – Bessie “Bonnie” Vondella Cartwright, 86, of Belton passed away under the care of Hospice of Western KY in Owensboro on Saturday, June 6, 2026. Born on December 30, 1939 in Beech Creek, Kentucky, Bonnie lived a life centered on faith, family, and caring for others. A longtime member of Mud River Union General Baptist Church, she remained active in her church for much of her life. She served as a Girl Scout leader and church youth group leader, touching the lives of many young people through her kindness and encouragement.
Bonnie was also the proud owner and operator of WK Pizza for nine years. The restaurant became a beloved gathering place in the community, and she took great pride in creating a place where friends and neighbors felt welcome.
Bonnie will be remembered for her gentle spirit, warm smile, and kind heart. She loved her family deeply and found great joy in spending time with those she loved. She enjoyed playing cards, sharing laughter, and making others feel at home. Her caring, motherly nature and love for family will be remembered by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Darrell “Red” Cartwright; parents, Ewin and Rachel McPherson; brothers, Cecil and Wayman McPherson; sisters, Jo Nell Drake, Linda Blake, and Brenda Young; grandson, Houston Cartwright; and son-in-law, Jeffrey Woodlee.
She is survived by her children, Bonita Woodlee, and Junior Cartwright; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Angela) Woodlee, Heath (Jennifer) Woodlee, Chloee (Stephen) Milner, and Ethan (Katelyn Coin) Cartwright; great-grandchildren, Isaac (Ciara) Woodlee, Anna (Tim) Rossi, Samuel Woodlee, Abe Woodlee, Eli Woodlee, Lo Milner, and Ro Milner; and siblings, Peggy (Jim) Beliles, Charlie (Beverly) McPherson, and Hettie Garrett.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 12, 2026 at 12PM at Mud River Union General Baptist Church in Belton with Bro. Todd Cartwright, Bro. Heath Woodlee, and Bro. Roger Reynolds officiating.
