I just found out about Berts passing yesterday. I had tried to call him after we moved to Kansas in May of 2012 and thought it was odd that his phone was off.. Bert was the best neighbor and friend. We shared many stories, meals, and fun times with him. He watched over the girls and me, when my husband was deployed. Several times I have relied on him as my shoulder to cry on. He was an amazing man. He always told me that when the world goes to sh*t, he will be sitting on top of pilot rock. Well Bert, you are definately the king of pilot rock now. You can sit up there and enjoy the view ... EVERYDAY. Shorty is heartbroken.. you were one of his best friends .. I will miss this man so much. It makes me so sad that after I left he got sick. I wish I could have been there. I tried to take care of him, and make his health problems a little more comfortable. I have so many great memories for the 6 yrs that I knew him.. REST IN PEACE BERT.. we love you and miss you! Janet, Shorty and the girls... <3

I was shocked when Bubby called me to tell me Berton was very ill and may not survive. My thoughts are with his family and Bubby and Sonny during this sad time. I hadn't seen Berton in person for a long time as I live out west but he was my friend and I will miss him. He left us way too soon and I will remember him for a very long time.............Jeff
