CENTRAL CITY – On Sunday, August 25, 2024, Benjamin McKinley “Ben Mac” Wolfe of Central City, loving husband and father of four was ushered into glory at the age of 82 years old. He passed at 9:40 AM under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky at Twin Rivers Nursing and Rehabilitation in Owensboro.
Ben was born on June 15, 1942 in Greenville, KY to Tony and Irma Wolfe. He is survived by his high school sweetheart wife of 63 years, Carolyn Wolfe, and three sons, Ted (Amy) Wolfe of Charlotte, NC; Todd (Sherry) Wolfe of Yorkville, IL; and Troy (Karen) Wolfe of Geneva, NY. He is proceeded in death by his son Trent Wolfe of Central City, KY who passed away January 24, 2023. Also, he is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard “Dick” Wolfe, and sister, Laura Marie Geiger. Furthermore, he is survived by 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
In his younger years, he was a standout in basketball on the Central City high school team. While in high school he showed his love for building things by building his own car in his dad’s shop. He served many people by building things with his hands for them throughout his life.
After graduating high school, Ben married the love of his life. He moved on to graduate from the University of Kentucky and took a job as an engineer at Motorola in Chicago, IL. One of his first projects was to work on one of the first handheld mobile phones. From there, he went into business for himself to consult and, true to his character, help many small businesses grow and prosper.
Ben was a very caring and loving man who served his family and friends with selfless abandon. He would drive hours to go to visit his kids and grandkids and attend countless ball games. He was a “hands-on” man who sought to do excellence in everything he did. In fact, he was a legendary handyman who was a perfectionist when it came to quality. He worked on countless home projects for not only his and Carolyn’s homes but also his boys’ families’ homes.
Above all, Ben was a follower of Jesus Christ. He was a member of First Baptist Church Central City. The godly influence this man provided his sons is reverberating in his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and beyond. Heaven has received a good and faithful servant. We are richer because of his example.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at First Baptist Church Central City at 114 N 3rd St at 2:00 PM with Dr. Chase Thompson officiating. Doors will be open at 1:30 PM.
