Ben W. Garst BREMEN — Ben W. Garst, of Bremen died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at his home. He was born Jan. 30, 1930, in McLean County. He retired from Illinois Central Railroad and was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Bremen and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ruby Brown Garst of Bremen; a son, Randall (Patsy) Garst of Central City; two daughters, Pat (Pete) Purcell and Dianne Fuqua, all of Owensboro; grandchildren Nancy (Paul) Bates, Andy (Kim) Purcell, Carrie (Rob) Wilkerson, Melissa (Toby) Harris and Andrea (Rich) Busch; and 10 great-grandchildren. Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Bremen. Burial will be in Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Bremen. Visitation is from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento. Mr. Garst will lie in state after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.
