September 25, 1926 - December 16, 2017

POWDERLY – Arvil West, Jr., age 91, of Powderly died Saturday, December 16, 2017 at his home. Arvil was the retired Postmaster at Greenville, member of Greenville First Baptist Church, a World War II veteran, a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 5478 and a Kentucky Colonel. He was preceded in death by his parents Arvil and Rosa Knight West and his sister Mildred Davis. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 69 years Doris Dukes West, daughters Linda (Johnny) Bethel of Greenville and Janet (Dennis) Thomas of Murray; grandchildren Stephanie Thompson, Wes Bethel, Kristin Mehlbauer, Alex Thomas and five great grandchildren; niece Donna Adams of Hopkinsville. Funeral services will be Monday, December 18, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Officiating the services will be Rev. Tom Stovall and Rev. John Galyen. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, December 17, 2017 after 5:00 PM and Monday from 10:00 AM – 1: 00 PM at the funeral home. The family request that expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathen’s Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301. Tucker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
