Virginia Mae Mayes CLEATON — Virginia Mae Mayes, 80, of 149 Cleaton Lane, Cleaton, died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2009, at Maple Manor Health Care in Greenville. She was born July 28, 1928, in Muhlenberg County. She was a member of Cleaton Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nellie Mae and Noah Johnson; and three brothers, Estil Johnson, Harold Johnson and William Lee Johnson. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, the Rev. Estil Mayes of Cleaton; a son, C.W. Mayes of Owensboro; two daughters, Geraldine Langley of Cleaton and Patricia Dianne (L.D.) Edge of Drakesboro; grandchildren Sandy Wayne (Lindy) Roberts, Chris (Amy) Roberts, David Roberts, Michelle (David) Johnson, Susie (Tory) Lott, Valerie (Tim) Hood, Scotty (Michelle) Mayes, Kevin (Ashley) Mayes, Sam Mayes, Johnathon Allen and Paul Allen; and 18 great-grandchildren. Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. Roy Loney officiating, assisted by the Rev. Floyd Steele. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery in Drakesboro. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
