CENTRAL CITY – Tommy Wayne Mercer, 78, of Central City, died Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at 9:20AM at his home. Mr. Mercer was born September 20, 1938, in Muhlenberg County. He was a superintendent at Peabody Coal Co., and member of Duvall’s Chapel General Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, R.T. and Mareen Mercer; and son Doug Mercer. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Newman Mercer; daughters Renee (Harold) Toney of Madisonville, Connie (Bob) Sholar of Trenton, and Patty (Al) Richards of Virginia Beach, VA; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother Johnny (Diane) Mercer of Greenville; and sisters Wilda Faye (Legon) McDonald of Greenville, Linda Steele of Greenville, Joan Bethel of Greenville, and Francis Davis of Louisville. Funeral services will be Friday, January 13, 2017, at 11:00AM at Duvall’s Chapel General Baptist Church, with Dr. Joe Leonard officiating, assisted by Rev. Tony Shanks. Burial in Nebo Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday after 5:00PM at the church. Tucker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
