I think about him every time I come to Central City, which is quite a lot. You and your family are in my thoughts & prayers....I hope you have been able to find some peace in this past year.

Ronnie and Keith have been best friends for as long as I can remember. Most of Keith's crazy stories started out, "Ronnie and I"... or "Ronnie said"... I remember Ronnie from our many trips to Mae and GW Drenon's house and on occasion when he would come to Chicago with Keith as a kid. His many antics kept us laughing. Even as a teenager he was respectful, kind hearted and a delight to be around. My continued prayers are that God brings comfort to all those that loved Ronnie, as I am sure he is resting in peace in our Father's arms. In great fondness, Ginni Lathame

My heart is broken for Ronnie's family and loved ones. He meant a lot to my family over the years. He was always so kind, encouraging and selfless. I ran into him at the post office one day and even though it had been probably over a decade since the last time I saw him, and I didn't recognize him right off, he recognized me and asked me all about my family. That was just the type of guy he was. He truly cared about people and made sure they felt cared for.

Gary & Terri Brown left a message on July 10, 2014:
Betty, Brent, and family, Ronnie was an athlete of life, exemplifying the best of how all should live. He showed by example how to be a Christian, not by words only, but also by the hard part of being a living example. His smile welcomed all and made each encounter feel special. He left this world feeling loved, and blessed. He remains in loving memories that cannot be taken away; rather, simply cheered. To an Athlete Dying Young BY A. E. HOUSMAN The time you won your town the race We chaired you through the market-place; Man and boy stood cheering by, And home we brought you shoulder-high. Today, the road all runners come, Shoulder-high we bring you home, And set you at your threshold down, Townsman of a stiller town. Smart lad, to slip betimes away From fields where glory does not stay, And early though the laurel grows It withers quicker than the rose. Eyes the shady night has shut Cannot see the record cut, And silence sounds no worse than cheers After earth has stopped the ears. Now you will not swell the rout Of lads that wore their honours out, Runners whom renown outran And the name died before the man. So set, before its echoes fade, The fleet foot on the sill of shade, And hold to the low lintel up The still-defended challenge-cup. And round that early-laurelled head Will flock to gaze the strengthless dead, And find unwithered on its curls The garland briefer than a girl’s.
