POWDERLY – Rodney Lee Oglesby, Sr., 84, of Powderly, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at 8:57AM under the care of Hospice, at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. Rodney was born January 28, 1941 in Brownie, KY. Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Helen Oglesby; his sister, Betty Yevincy; his brother-in-law, Bennie Morris, and his great-grandson, Chase Oglesby.
Rodney was a hardworking man who dedicated many years to his trades as both a mechanic and a coal miner. He enjoyed his time with the Muhlenberg County Amateur Radio Society, INC. under the call sign KJ4UEO. Known for being able to fix anything, he was admired and loved by many throughout his family and community.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Wanda Sue Oglesby; his children, Ronda (Marty) Lewis and Rodney Lee Oglesby, Jr.; his sister, Debbie (Jerry) McClary; and sisters-in-law Nancy Morris and Teresa Rolley. He also leaves behind his grandchildren—Heather (Jeff) Money, Andrew (Charity) Oglesby, and Stephanie (Zach Negulis) Oglesby—as well as his great-grandchildren—Kaylor Money, Kian Money, and Holland Negulis. Rodney is also survived by several nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Rodney’s legacy of love, strength, and dedication will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 4, 2025 at 1PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Bro. Ron Noffsinger officiating. Burial in Cessna Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 10AM-1PM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
