Owen Curtis ‘Buddy’ Dukes CENTRAL CITY — Owen Curtis ‘Buddy’ Dukes, 84, of Central City died Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born May 3, 1926, to the late Estell and Lucy White Dukes in Muhlenberg County. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church, had been a barber in Central City for more than 20 years, and was a retired coal miner. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Willadean Dukes in August 2000. Survivors include his two daughters, Pat (Larry) Mercer of Owensboro and Sharon (Bill) Drace off Utica; five grandchildren, Tara (Tim) Williams, Heather Mercer, Kristie (Thomas) Colburn, Stephanie O’Neal and Shannon (Brandon) Henson; four stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; one sister, Ann Margaret Duke; and three nephews, Joe (Patty) Duke, Tom Duke and Butch Devine. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home, Central City, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
