SACRAMENTO – Ollie Jane Phelps, 93, of Sacramento, was reunited with her heavenly savior on Monday, February 13, 2012. She was born in Muhlenberg County on October 15, 1918 to Taylor Angus Shanks and Rosie Lula McCulley. She was a longtime resident of Louisville before moving back to Muhlenberg County to be closer to her brothers and sisters after retirement. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and was a dedicated member of the Trinity Pentecostal Church in Central City. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband George William Phelps, brothers, Houston, Levi and Paul Shanks, and sisters, Nadine Hendricks and Dee Miller; daughter-in-law, Lois Agee and grandson Ricky Agee. She is survived by her cherished children: Anna Smith (Rodney), Melvin Agee, Jerry Agee (Carol), Barbara Jennings (Kenneth), Shirley Patterson, and step-daughter Susie Fulkerson (Barry); sisters Louise Ward and Minnie Miller (Gordon); grandchildren Karen Curry, Rocky Smith, David Smith, Gail Pigue, June Ann Dodson, Jerry Smith, Jake Agee, Ronnie Agee, Jeff Agee, Brad Agee, Gaye Evans, Barret Agee, Kim Howard, Vernon Jennings, Kenny Jennings, Robin Shouse, Steve Patterson, Billy Patterson, Eric Fogle, Chris Fogle, and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by an abundance of nieces and nephews including Rita Payton and Marvin Whitmer, whom together helped provide the support she needed to remain independent in her home. She also leaves behind her church family and her two beloved friends Anna Jenkins and Brenda Tooley. Visitation will be held from noon until 2:00PM on Friday, February 17, 2012 at Tucker Memorial Chapel located at 520 Main Street in Sacramento, Ky. The funeral will proceed immediately after the visitation at 2:00PM, with Bro. Allen Harris of Trinity Pentecostal Church officiating. Burial in Brier Creek Cemetery.
