Norma Renfrow Gamblin, a retired hairdresser and enthusiastic homemaker of Crescent City, FL was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Orlando Regional Medical Center, FL. She was 7 days shy of being 66 years old. She was diagnosed with Lupus and Chronic Lung Disease. She was born on August 24, 1945 in Nelson Creek, KY to Burch A. and Blanche Lee Renfrow. She attended Central City High School and Cumberland University before marrying Roy L. Shoemaker on December 31,1964. Their first daughter, Penny Michelle, was born in Maryland. They moved back to Kentucky for the birth of their second daughter, Angela Loree. They resided many years in Powderly and were members of Calvary Baptist Church in Central City. She later married Charles O. Stanley on October 15, 1981. They traveled through more than half of the 50 states during their 15 years together. They built a home in White Plains. She later married Larry W. Gamblin on December 6, 1997. They lived in Morton’s Gap then moved to Florida and enjoyed his final years together. She worked at the Y-Cafe as a waitress and then in many cashier positions over the years, including a management position at the Nortonville Pantry before earning a Beautician license. She enjoyed playing the piano while singing Gospel music, sewing, gardening and decorating. Her favorite topics of conversation were her daughters and grandbabies. She is survived by Mark Barrows, her companion and friend ;2 daughters Penny Courtney (Mike), Angela Wolfe (Kevin);3 stepchildren Melody Freels, Rebecca Morris, and Phillip Gamblin; 3 grandchildren Erik Courtney, Joy Courtney & Michelle Courtney; 8 step-grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 siblings her sister Leveda Uzzle (Willis) and brother Donald Renfrow (Magdalene) as well as an extensive list of cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Gamblin; parents Burch and Blanche Renfrow; 7 siblings Nellie Goff, William Renfrow, James “Spud” Renfrow, Charles Renfrow, John Wesley Renfrow, Raymond Lee Renfrow, “Baby Joseph” Renfrow. Services will be held at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, Ky on Wednesday at 11:00AM, which is also the day we celebrate her birth, with Bro. Rick Conley officiating. Burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Madisonville. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
