Mrs. McDonald was a school teacher at Drakesboro for 33 years, and served as President of Muhlenberg County Retired Teacher’s Association, after she retired. She was a devoted member of Drakesboro First Baptist Church where her father was pastor in the 1940’s. She was active in “Fun Over Forty” and “Spice of Life” clubs, taking several trips with them, even a 7,000 mile bus trip west/northwest. She was fair minded and always available to help those in need. Her positive influence is far reaching as is evident from the many personal notes the family members are receiving. She was someone who accomplished whatever she wanted to do, an outstanding student obtaining her rank one with honors (30 hours beyond a Master’s degree), re- wiring the house where she lived, fixing the plumbing when needed, building additional rooms with the help of her husband, re-upholstering furniture, sewing for self and family, making children’s playhouse furniture and doll clothes, gardening to can and freeze produce for winter consumption, and the list goes on. She was a hard worker and devoted to her family. As long as she was in her home in Browder, Sunday dinner after church was for all the family and friends around, then a game of Scrabble, Flinch, Rook, softball or other games was a constant tradition. She served in the Drakesboro Baptist Church as Junior leader in VBS for many years teaching pre-middle and middle school aged children how to navigate the Bible, memorize the 66 books in order, and commit many scripture verses to heart. As an active member of Women’s Missionary Union and Sunday School teacher Marjorie was a willing servant. She was instrumental in leading many to Christ. She will be missed by her family and loved ones!
