Lou Helen Nelson Newcom 1/22/2009 BREMEN — Lou Helen Nelson Newcom, 79, of Bremen died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at her home. She was born July 18, 1929, in Muhlenberg County. She worked at GE in Owensboro and Enro Shirt Factory in Madisonville. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bremen and taught 4-5 year-old Sunday school class for more than 50 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Jenny Bruce Nelson; six sisters, Louise Nelson, Guynith Garrett, Wilda Davis, Betty Beck, Thelma Grundy and Mary Wells; three brothers, Orvil, Buck and Gene Nelson; and a son-in-law, Robert Hardrick. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Charles Newcom Jr. of Bremen; a son, Donnie (Elaine) Newcom of Bremen; three daughters, Pam (Mack) Rose and Regina (James) Walker, both of Bremen and Dianne Hardrick of Madisonville; grandchildren Keisha Newcom, Brandon (Brittney) Newcom, Tanya Rose, Jeremy Rose, Logan Walker, Joshua Walker, Vance (Jamie) Hardrick, Noah (Becky) Hardrick and Kenya Hardrick; and three great-grandchildren, Jaden Hardrick, Jaxen Hardrick and Braylin Newcom. Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with the Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating, assisted by the Rev. Brodie Ambrose. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in Bremen. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Mrs. Newcom will lie in state at the church from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.
