GREENVILLE – Larry E. Casey, 68, of Greenville, died Monday, August 8, 2011 after a lingering bout with cancer. Mr. Casey was born May 20, 1943 in Muhlenberg County. He was a member of the Holiness Church. Mr. Casey was a former brick mason; he and his brothers did the brick work on many houses and businesses in Muhlenberg and surrounding counties. He was also a United States Air Force veteran, of which he was very proud to have served his country. He loved spending time hunting, fishing, and gardening, and watching western shows and NASCAR racing on TV. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lola and Netter Casey; brothers Bob Casey Sr., Elvis Lindell Casey, and Clovis Casey; and sisters Wilda Heath and Margaret Shumate. Survivors include his companion of 37 years, Rena L. Loy, and her immediate family, including a grandson, Jeremiah Loy, of Greenville, that called him Papaw; brothers Allen Wayne (Thelma) Casey of Powderly and Gilbert Lee Casey of Cleaton, both that he loved very much and had to talk to every day; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Funeral services will be Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 11:00AM at Crossing Holiness Church, with Rev. Larry Shemwell officiating. Burial in Jagoe Cemetery. Mr. Casey will lie in state at the church after 9:00AM on Thursday. Visitation will be Wednesday after 5:00PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City.
