CENTRAL CITY – Juarnell Octavia Butler Crumbie, 89, of Central City, died Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at 9:40PM at her home. She was born June 5, 1930, in North Middletown, KY, to the late William H. and Ella Facett Butler. After graduating from Western High School, Juarnell attended Kentucky State College and received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Home Economics, followed by receiving a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Kentucky in August of 1970. Juarnell became a Home Economics teacher for Central City High School from August of 1967 until 1985 when she retired. During her teaching career, she really loved and counseled her students as well as teaching them not only about Home Economics but about life as well. She was a teacher and mother to all her students. Juarnell was what you called an “old school” teacher. She treated her students like they were her own. Mrs. Crumbie was a blessing to a lot of people’s lives during her lifetime. Juarnell accepted Christ at an early age at First Christian Church in Paris, KY. She became a Watchcare member of Ebenezer Baptist Church of Central City, KY. She loved her pastor and her church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sebree N. Crumbie and beloved granddaughter Kendra Danielle Talbott. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Connie (James) Talbott of Central City; a son, Jon (Michelle) Crumbie of Louisville; three grandchildren, Deidre Kaniel Talbott, Braxton Thair Samuel Crumbie, and Langston Nevaro Drexler Crumbie; two great-grandchildren Marcus James Lamont Dixon and Mackenna Danielle Thompson; brother James (Grace) Thompson of Lexington; sister-in-law Frances Thompson of Lexington; brother-in-law Sam (Anna Pearl) Crumbie of Paris, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Juarnell was loved by all she touched. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 12, 2019, at 11:00AM at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Central City, with Rev. Otis Cunningham officiating. Burial in West End Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday after 9:30AM at the church.
