Prayers for family and friends for it is the hardest on those left behind. May the Lord bring them comfort and healing during this time. Heaven has gained another angel and those close to him he'll never be truly gone. He'll be here as Guardian Angel watching over them.

We were so sorry to hear of Jon's passing. We first met Jon thru his radio show "Are You Ready for The Country" which we aired on The Whip Radio. His love and knowledge of music was a great addition to our format. We spoke frequently with him on the phone during that time and his youthful enthusiasm was fun and infectious to us geezers! Condolences and much love being sent to his family, friends and Mary. We will miss him.

There are no words to convey the loss, the sorrow, and the amazing memories we've all been immersed in since your departure. I still can't believe it. You left us. There's so much sadness, anger, and love in our hearts right now. We miss you and we're all thinking of you and your family, John. Til another day, my love.

i am john and mary's neighbor. i've only known john for a year or 2, but my time with him was always up lifting and positive. i lost my son last October. he was 30 and also named john. my heart and prayers go out to his parents and family. as life goes, parents are not to bury their childern but the other way around. no one can understand the loss of a child or grasp life without them. i am truly sorry for your loss and i will truly miss my neighbors on nutwood st. sincerely, mark

I do not know what to say. You were my favorite student, favorite mom and greatest friend during my education years. I tell everyone, some people grow squash, some build cars, and you built two of the finest kids I know. I will be at the visitation and funeral. Hope I see you guys. I am so sorry to all of Jon's family that I have not met. I am especially sorry for Mary. I have been with my wife for ten years and you two have a love that even I can envy. Jon was a friend. He always greeted me with a hug and asked me about my kids or my school. Jon knew me and to think of how many people he knew he always made every encounter meaningful. That is his superpower. The first time I met him I had no clue who he was but we talked for fifteen minutes outside Renfro Valley. Shooter played and people were lined up by the fence for autographs. People were jumping in line and Jon redirected Shooter so that he talked to my wife, my three year old son, and me. Jon always looked out for me and treated me well over the years. I always admired how he made sure I had three of everything so my two sons had things for me to take home. Being my friend is respectful taking care of my boys is admirable. I will miss our talks and conversations. I will miss the talks of wwe. I will miss him lighting up when I found him a cool gift. Most of all I will miss his friendliness to everybody and watching how he loved people. I loved him. I miss you Colonel, and your sideburns which I called the best in the Midwest. Jon and Mary 1st reached out to me to help me restore The Rock-afire Explosion to the fantasy rock group Jon remembered from his childhood. We, together with his friend Shooter and Misty Jennings set out on a path to bring The Rock-afire back from "the forgotten" to something a new generation of families could enjoy. Our friendship blossomed and Jon's warmth and love, not only for my fantasy rock group, but also for Kerry and me as friends brought much joy into our lives. We will miss Jon very much and will dedicate our continuing work to him, keeping his memory alive in our hearts.

i had met jon in Summerville while ago while he was touring with shooter jennings he showed me some of shooters music which i love so much he gave me some advice on life we were planning to meet up and intraduce me to shooter before i moved to new zealand back with my family all i can say is jon rest in peace man you were a good friend to all and a great maneger for shooter and my condollances to your family and other friends

I will miss you

It was an honour to meet and chat with Jon last summer at one of Shooters Jennings concerts. He was nothing but kind to me and seemed like a really cool guy. My condolences out to his friends and family. My heart hurts for you. Rest in peace Jon Hensley. You rule.

He was the gatekeeper, and saw fit to let me in. He believed in me, in my music. In a sea of "no's" he was the one with the courage to say "yes". When I got to finally meet Jon in person, he was everything that I thought he was. He was a class act, always a gentleman, and getting to witness the love that he and Mary had first-hand made me have faith in all the good things in the world. I learned of Jon through watching Angry Grandpa's videos, who I've met and am a fan of. Seeing Jon in videos with them with his remarkable look and way he carried himself, and I could imagine being there with them. I saw their camaraderie and looked forward to seeing more, and can only imagine what he meant to those closest to him. My thoughts are with all his family and friends.

I first found out about Jon through angry grandpa, and ever since I've been of fan of him and Shooter. He was just so cool and collected on the videos I watched of him. I really would of loved to meet him. And the music he helped Shooter produce is just awesome. Although I did not know you Jon, I know that you were a great person. I can tell by how much respect Michael Green had for you. I was really sad to hear of your passing , but I know you're always going to be there for those you loved in spirit. I didn't know Jon, not directly. I only knew him through my dear friend, Mary. And through her I saw a great man -- a loving, caring person with a deep, bombastic love for life. A charismatic Bon Vivant who shared his joy and passion with anyone who cared to partake of it. By all regards, one of the greats. And like all great things, Jon has clearly left us far too early. I wish I had had the opportunity to shake his hand and hear his stories. I wish I could have shared a drink and seen the mischievous glint in his eyes. I got to meet Jon a few years ago in Nashville after going to a free Wanda Jackson concert. He could not have been any nicer! He talked to my parents, aunt and me that night, had a couple of cigarettes from dad and even listened to a song that I had written on my phone. Truly a class act kind of person. Jon reached out to me when I first moved to Nashville on MYSPACE. He was only 24 years old then. He complimented my music, took me out for drinks and bought me an Elvis Presley biography. I have always liked him and felt he was very wise beyond his young years. A beautiful and special soul who left this world way too soon. The best ones sometimes do. I'm in shock! Jon was such a great person. I loved his passion for great country music and his vision to bring that music to a younger audience through social media. He was an old soul. I got to share my music with him many times and we were still in contact recently planning on getting together. When they came back a few months ago it was a show for all ages. Jon remembered me and when he saw I had my son with me he talked with us. My son said he would like to thank shooter for signing the bandanna for him. Jon took us back stage and introduced my son to shooter and it not only made his night , but it made me the coolest mom ever in my son's eyes. I thanked him for making that happen and he said No thanks needed, thank you for all the support as fans. My deepest sympathies go out to Jon's family, Mary & Shooter and Misty.

A true man of his word. I'm disabled and missed a show a couple years ago but he gave me his cell number and said if they ever came close to let him know and he'd get me back to see Shooter. A few months ago he fulfilled that wish for me. You don't find folks like him much anymore and especially in the music industry. God Bless him dand his family.

GONE BUT NOT FOREGOTTEN

I am so very grateful I had the opportunity to meet Jon when he and Mary were with Shooter on his Spring 2014 tour in Canada He accomodated a once a lifetime meeting with Shooter after the show for me and my friends. We are Waylon fans and Shooter fans and based on that breif encounter and then some subsequent texting and twitter DM'ing I became a Col Jon Hensley fan. If we are lucky in this life we come across those with whom our meeting may be all too brief ..but, mercifully that brevity is all that is needed to recognize and appreciate a friendship that belies its tenure. He was generous with his time for me and patient with this new friend who had inumerable 'dumb fan' questions. He took time to introduce me to others on the 'team' that afforded too much to share here. Jon thanks for that patience..thanks for the interest you showed in our son Colter and his aspriing music career. Your encouragement and appreciation meant the world to him and to all of us. And thanks to Jon for allowing me to meet Mary as well. It should not be a surprise that she possesses the same equanamity, authenticity and generoristy as was so evident in you. We pray the 'peace that passes understanding' for her and all who mourn Jon. Brad Wall

I wish I had the chance to get to know Jon better, I sure am glad I had the chance to meet him on one of Shooter's runs to Dallas at Hat Tricks. Coolest dude, such a good vibe. Jon, we parted ways a while back, but my God we were unstoppable when we were together. The many nights of sad country songs and drinking a bottle. Angry Grandpa videos for hours on end. I cannot wrap my mind around the fact that you are gone. It breaks my heart, and a part of me has died along with you. You were a genuine soul with a heart of gold, many will miss you, and I only wish more folks could have known the real you. May you rest in peace, and be forever in our hearts.
