POWDERLY – John T. Eaves, Sr., 98, of Powderly, died Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at 7:14AM at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. Mr. Eaves was born November 16, 1916, in Muhlenberg County. He was a coal miner for 46 years and was a lifetime member of UMWA. He was a member of Powderly United Methodist Church for 61 years. He caught the biggest fish and grew the biggest sweet potatoes. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter Fred Eaves and Ernest G. Eaves; and sisters Marie Moore, Anna Jean Cosby, and Mattie E. Byers. He is survived by his wife of 77 years, Barbara Coombs Eaves; sons John T. (Cher) Eaves, Jr. of Ohio County and Jerry Lee (Donna) Eaves of Powderly; grandchildren Lee Scott Eaves, Leslie Tinsley, Aaron Cobb, and Jessica Shelton; great-grandchildren Hannah Eaves, Mitchell Eaves, Lilly Tinsley, Logan Michael Tinsley, Daniel Evitts, Dylan Evitts, Oliva Payne, Ava Shelton, Millie Shelton, Mara Cobb, Kassidy Cobb, and Delaney Cobb; and fifteen nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 18, 2015, at 10:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. David Fall officiating. Burial in Memorial Gardens.
