Dear Pat, Terry and I both have such sweet memories of Joe. One especially has stayed with me for many years, it happened at the family restuarant shortly after we came to serve in Greenville. The waitress obviously was having health issues. Joe tuned right into this and before we left the restuarant had convinced her to see a doctor, at his expense. I have never forgotten that act both of perception and kindness. Joe would bluster, tease, and engage anyone in conversation, so some folks may not have known how sensitive and caring he was to others. In fact, I think he saw more deeply into the lives of others than anyone knew, a whole lot like our Lord Jesus Christ. Terry and I are praying for you and the family.
