CENTRAL CITY – James Ray “Red” Payton, 65, of Central City, died Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Deaconness Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. Mr. Payton was born June 10, 1949, in McLean County. He was self-employed in logging, and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Truman and Eva Dean Payton; brother-in-law Frank Hickerson; infant brother Dale Payton; and infant sister Gale Payton. Survivors include his brothers, Otis (Rita) Payton of Milport, David (Linda) Payton of Sacramento, Gary Don (Doris) Payton of Evansville, IN, Charles “Cotton” (Mary Ann) Payton of Central City, and Keith (Rebecca) Payton of Luzerne; sister Margaret Hickerson of Central City; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday, February 9, 2015, at 11:00AM at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bremen, with Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating. Burial in Shavers Chapel Cemetery.
