GREENVILLE – Jackie Lewis Spears, 87, of Greenville, died Monday, December 2, 2019, at 11:40AM at his home. Mr. Spears was born December 8, 1931, in Muhlenberg County. He was a retired coal miner and member of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran. He loved life to the fullest – dancing, fishing, and he was a book author. He loved family and friends, especially babies. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Jo Nell Peveler; parents Joe and Reathel Spears; brother Richard Spears; and son-in-law John Cook. He is survived by his children, Kevin Spears of Central City, Angie Cook of Central City, Felicia (Ken) Houser of Greenville, and Monica (Ronnie) Todd of Sebree; brother Freddie Spears of Evansville, IN; sister Christy Stanley of Bremen; grandchildren Johnny Cook, Heather Dunn, Candace Crossan, Haley Spears, Chelsea Washer, and Cole Hazelwood; five great-grandchildren; companion of 17 years, Wanda Anderson; and first wife of 23 years, Janice Mercer. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 5, 2019, at 12:00 noon at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating, assisted by Rev. John Galyen.
