Freddie Smith left a message on June 4, 2016:
Dear Ms Higgs:
I was a high school classmate of Gary's when we attended and graduated from Central City HS. I don't believe I had the opportunity to see him again since we graduated. Although, Buddy Lear and I and other classmates of Gary's lost track of him while in the military, we always tried to invite him to our l955 Class Reunions when they were planned. He was always a very nice, polite friend and I'm sure you and the family will miss him greatly. I want to extend my sincere sympathy in his death. As a former Army Officer and by reading his obituary, I'm positive he was an outstanding Navy Chief Petty Officer. Our class will miss him.

My personal sympathy,

Freddie Smith
Barbara Wolford left a message on May 30, 2016:
I have been a close friend of the Stevens family for many years, so that included Gary. I remember when he and Frieda lived next door to David and Dorothy in Orlando. I also remember lots of laughs and good times at Melba's house and when David took us to Moonlite in Owensboro. My deepest sympathy and loving thoughts to Frieda, Rhonda, Teri and the whole family. Love, Barbara Woodson Wolford.
