It saddened my heart when I saw Gary's obituary. I worked with Gary for many years at Peabody Coal. He was such a good friend. We could always depend on Gary giving us a good laugh. He was a good " kindhearted" man. Always there to help. I know he will be missed by many! May God's pease cover the family during this time of grief.

So long old friend, see you soon. I will never forget that Gary was one of the few that came to my home and personally witnessed to me, a Lost young man. Thank you Gary for planting that seed as I gave my life to Christ shortly after that. Rest in Peace Gary, save me a place.

I am so sorry to hear about Gary. He was such a good friend. We shared many conversations and I have missed talking to him on Facebook. So glad we got to reconnect because long time friends are the best friends .

To hear of this wonder man passing is heartbroken, this man knew me before I was even born. To me he was always Uncle Gary, may not have been in real family relations. However he was my uncle. He always had nicknames for people who he loved. For years it was baby girl( as small as I was when born) then as I grew it became sugar or sweet"em . He always said I was the smallest baby he ever held and he was amazed I pulled through it all!. He loved everyone like family. He made you feel like family. His doors was always opened and there was always a seat at his or aunt Darlene table. He never judged and never said a bad thing about anyone. Men like Gary Benson does NOT come around very often. This world was greater for having you, lost without you. Heaven is even sweeter now with you. I hope you enjoyed hugging your mom and your brother and sister again. While many of us are hurting and feeling lost without your voice, we are so thankful for all the memories we had with you.

It’s extremely hard to grasp the concept that you’re no longer here with us anymore. I don’t truly want to accept it, but I know you’re better now. You no longer have to feel the pain, no more doctor visits, no more ER rooms. You get to be around your loved ones in heaven. I’m so thankful for you and all that you’ve done for me, Addison, Lauren, and of course Grandmother. I love you so very much. I miss you but I’m so glad you’re in a better place.
